Did you know Instagram has over 500 million active users every single day? That’s a HUGE audience to put your business in front of. But you need to make a lasting impression.

The number one way to stand out on Instagram is of course, originality. And, I get it. It’s not always easy to think of brand new ideas that no one has ever done before. But the point is you want to do something that is slightly out of the box. Perhaps, one or two people have done something similar but if you put your own twist to it then you’re on to a winner.
Take some time today to brain dump any ideas you have in terms of content creation. The idea here is that the more you brain dump the more you’re going to inspire yourself to think of new, unique ideas.
Share something vulnerable
Personally, my most engaged posts have always been the posts where I open up and share something a little more personal. Stay within your boundaries and don’t feel pressure to share something that you absolutely don’t want to. However, if you DO feel comfortable talking about one of your vulnerabilities then absolutely do it.
Not only will this ensure you stand out on Instagram, the chances are you’re going to connect with your audience on a much deeper level. When I had a fashion and lifestyle blog, I opened up about my journey and struggle with anxiety. I wrote a post about my personal experience and ended it with some tips and tricks for anyone else that was out there suffering.
From that day on, I had multiple girls messaging me and thanking me for speaking out about my vulnerability. Isn’t it funny how a single brave post like that can make such a huge impact!
Create a weekly series
If you want to keep your audience engaged and coming back for more then this one is for you! It doesn’t have to make anything fancy but just something that is consistent on one day of the week. For example I upload weekly IGTV videos every single Monday on my Instagram.
By setting a particular time and day every week it ensures your audience will come back and check for this piece of content. Similar to when we tune into Love Island at 9pm!
Here are some ideas to get you thinking:
- Takeover Tuesday: Allow someone to take over you stories every Tuesday.
- Follow Friday: Share your current favourite accounts that your audience can find valuable content from.
- Style Saturday: Show your outfit of the day and share where people can find the exact same items.
Provide Valuable Content
Pretty obvious right?! But what exactly is valuable content? In my opinion, valuable content is anything that allows people to feel inspired, motivated or educated.
